Maria Saravo-Carlson is an American artist. Her parents are Italian who moved to New York and later established in Venezuela where Maria was born. Maria started painting at age 5 and at age 12 she was already drawing portraits with no prior training. She kept painting during her childhood and teenage years and received many medals of Honor in Art. She then later moved to Los Angeles, California where she graduated from Loyola Marymount University. You can now find her painting in her studio in Costa Mesa, California. Maria realizes that it is better to follow one’s heart in life, and to do what one loves to bring spiritual peace and abundance. Her paintings are an expression of her soul. She tends to reflect conventional life in an abstract way. How Maria views the world combined with her rebellious nature dictates the themes of her paintings in turn making them unique and versatile. Maria allows her imagination to create distorted and abstract images of life, pain and joy allowing her wildest feelings and beliefs to splash the canvas with color countering perfection with chaos. “Time can go and I can get lost in a symphony of colors and shapes and feelings”. Maria’s Art incorporates a combination of pop art, abstract and symbolism. All of them together produce a magical rhythm. Bright colors and bold lines that seem to be electrically charged represent the same magical way of seeing and experiencing the world through her eyes. Her artwork is a telling piece showing the inside of the artist. “I tend to paint about my own personal reality in distorted ways. I seldom try to paint about dreams and nightmares. I paint with a transparent soul. It will show my love, my hates, my joy and my fears”. Some of her paintings owners are in United States, Europe and South America.
